The Shrinking Mommy Journey Begins
Today, November 3, 2009, is a new day, as is everyday. But today is special because today I am officially beginning the next phase of my journey to get healthy again. If you read my story, then you know I’ve been on this journey for four years. I’ve broken most of my bad habits and am ready to begin SHRINKING!!
With over 100 pounds to lose (actually more like 130), I’ve chosen to focus on another measurement than weight to set goals by.
Right now I have a size 28 pair of jeans that are a little snug, but fit. I’ve worn these for two years and really really like a new pair of jeans, in the next size down, of course.
So while I’ll be keeping track of weight loss and such, my goals are attached to clothing. Besides one of the bonsuses of losing weight is the ability to get new clothes right?
If you are trying to lose weight too, please join me on this journey. If you are blogging your journey, please be sure to leave a comment below, so I can go check out your blog too.
If you aren’t on this journey… well… your encouragement and support would be most appreciated

I’m with you Shannon! I had lost over 80 lbs and gained back quite a bit. Not all of it but enough to where I have to buy a size up in bathing suits and some clothes for our trip to Jamaica next month and I’m not happy about it. I really need to get back on the wagon as far as portion control and healthy eating goes. I exercise a lot but to make it work I have to eat right. So, 100 lbs is my goal however I do want to ultimately be in a size 8-10 and right now I’m anywhere between 14-18. I know I can do it, I just have to make it a priority again.
Best wishes to you on your journey! We can do it. Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my blog today and I see you linked to me on your blog roll so thanks!

Angie, you are one of my inspirations for finally chronicaling this. You’ve had such great success, I know that you can get “back on the wagon” so to speak. Thank you for coming by and joining the journey!

I have more than 100 pounds to lose too and I think that’s what tends to be my ‘roadblock’ to sticking with an exercise/healthy eating routine. Instead of thinking of it in small increments I just think of the BIG number and wonder how I’ll ever accomplish it.
I’m looking forward to following along on your journey! Yes definitely having to buy new clothes is a perk

Hi Tishia! I completely understand about how focusing on that big number (100+ pounds) can be a roadblock – overwhelming. Over the last couple years it seems like I keep losing and gaining hte same 10 lbs…how in the world am I going to lose 100? But this year I finally realized I just need to chunk it down, focus on the small things, baby steps. And I also think we’re so programmed to think about weight loss in terms of weight, it’s easy to forget that as we are gaining muscle and losing fat we’re getting “thinner” but our weight might not be changing as much as our appearance. Anyway, rambling… Thanks for coming by! I’ve bookmarked your blog so I can come by and visit you too.
