Losing 100+ pounds – Weekly Update – Dec 8, 2009 (Week 5)
Well, it’s been 5 weeks since I started this blog and being accountable to my goal to lose 100+ pounds. And, I’m happy to report that this week I’m down another 2 lbs, bringing the total to 7 pounds lost in 5 weeks!
And on Saturday, my husband commented on how much thinner my face is looking and paid me a compliment. How cool is that!
So, I’m happy to report that the goal I had to exercise this week definitely helped. As you could see from my posts I didn’t do anything big really – just kept adding movement and exercise into things I was already doing: watching TV, making pancakes, brushing my teeth, mundane things like that.
But as yesterday showed, I really have to pay attention to REMEMBER to exercise.
Food wise this week, I didn’t do any tracking, but instead went with trying to focus on making healthy choices and using the portion control technique of ensuring that at least half my plate at dinner was vegetables.
I found that by patterning my day something like this really helped cut down on the cravings and keep me on track:
Within an hour of waking: piece of fruit and a cup of tea or glass of water (my water glasses are 32 oz)
Late morning: brunch with the kids (pancakes, a waffle, or oatmeal with a piece of fruit, sometimes a couple tablespoons of scrambled eggs, and sometimes a smoothie)
3 pm: Snacktime with kids (this is usually a light meal)
7:30 pm: full dinner (half a plate of vegetables)
9 pm: A small snack (like almonds nuts or piece of fruit)
11 pm or just before bed: a piece of fruit
In between I’m drinking water (I always have a 32 oz glass of water going), sipping on herbal tea, and periodically grabbing a piece of fruit or something nutrient dense. I’m also drinking 1-2 cans or bottles of diet soda a day (which is something that has to stop!)
This coming week I don’t have any specific goals, other than to keep work on working exercise into each day and making smart food choices.
Do you have any goals you are working on this week?
Way to go Shannon! You are doing sooo great. I really need to take a cue from you and get this scale moving! Just watched the Biggest Loser finale and am always so inspired by their transformations.
Let’s make it happen this next year! I’m ready to take more control and make more positive changes especially when it comes to sweets/desserts.
Again, CONGRATS on doing so great. So happy to hear hubby noticed and paid you a complement. Way to go hubby!

Thanks so much Angie! You know that compliment from my husband meant a lot. He doesn’t compliment much on anything, so it was very cool. I am so ready to SHRINK and am so glad you are on this journey too!
