Losing 100+ pounds – Weekly Update – Week 12
So, if you saw the WooHoo! post, you know this has been a good week, results wise. It’s exciting to move into new clothes (well, they’ve been in my closet for a while, but at least now I can wear them!)
One of the reasons clothing is such a good benchmarking tool for me is that for years now I have not allowed myself to buy new clothes unless I absolutely had to – i.e., they were falling apart and couldn’t be worn any more, or I couldn’t fit into them anymore.
So my wardrobe, something that I used to take a great deal of pride in, is rather lacking.
By shrinking, I get to play with new clothes! And I like that. It makes me feel good, gives my spirit a shot of enthusiasm, which makes working toward the next goal easier.
So, anyway, this week’s official results.
Hmm…
This one is hard because I made the mistake on Tuesday of weighing myself 3 different times. Mostly because the first time was such a big loss, I didn’t quite believe it. (seriously the first number was 6 pounds lost!)
So I weighed my self two more times… and got different numbers. So I have three different numbers to compare against…
- 6 pounds, – 4 pounds, and – 2 pounds… ugh
Lesson here: pay more attention to what I’m wearing and when I’m weighing myself so I can compare apples to apples.
So, I’m thrilled they are all “Loss” numbers. But I’m taking the middle number of 4 pounds lost and calling it good for my comparison against next week.
This brings me back to the total 7 pounds loss, (over 12 weeks). Not stellar, but definitely the right direction this time.
Here’s to another good week…
Awesome!!! Congrats on the loss!!! It’s so exciting isn’t it, when you step on that scale and see the numbers go down. I’m really shooting for a loss this week! Started doing a dance aerobics dvd every day, so hopefully that will help.
As far as weighing yourself goes, here’s a little tip for you: try weighing yourself first thing in the morning, once a week on the same day of the week, every week, naked. That way you won’t have to worry about what you’re wearing, etc. Plus you won’t have any excess weight from recently eaten food or beverage you just drank. I find if I weigh myself in the afternoon, for example, I weigh a couple pounds more than I did in the morning. And, like you said, clothing does make a difference. Heavy jeans or sweaters weigh more than lounge pants and t-shirts.

Thanks Mary! It does feel good when the scale shows a loss – and even better when it’s time to fit into new clothes. You are right I should just do the weighin first thing in the morning. That would probably be more consistent.
