Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Workout – Day 2

Well, Day 2 (Sunday) of the Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Workout program.  I got up late again this morning, after a very late night before, and I really didn’t feel like doing anything, but I did – and only because I said I would here. So thank you for keeping me accountable!

Today’s Fat Loss Quickie workout included:

  • A reminder to check out the 30 Day Meal plan that is a bonus with the program.
  • A link to a page of alternate exercises if any prove to be too difficult
  • A 16 minute strenth workout that focuses on the back and abs
  • A cardio workout
  • A nutrition video where Scott emphasizes that the program is not about perfection, but encourages us to eat more whole, natural foods, and
  • a 4 minute motivational mp3 from Scott

So, let’s see what I did. I did not look at the meal plan today. I did look at it a few days ago, and made a mental note to come back to it. So that’s still something I need to look at.

I did check out the alternate exercises page, but today I didn’t need any, but I was glad to see that they were there.

I did do the 16 minute strength workout, and was actually really happy that it was focused on the back, as yesterday I noticed that my upper back was not as strong as my lower back and legs. I haven’t been balancing out my workouts, so it was good to get that in today.

I did not have to modify anything in the strength workout, though I did have to figure out how to stabilize myself on the exercise ball for the side crunches. My 12 yo daughter thought it was hilarious (!) watching me try to figure out that one. (I kept rolling off the ball in the beginning). But I got it and then she left the room as the “show” was over. :)

Scott shoots his video in his home office, and his young daughter came in and joined him in this video. It was very candid and she was had a few things to say, which I give credit to Scott for keeping it authentic and not editing it  or reshooting it.

One of the things that I thought was interesting is that Scott has a smaller exercise ball in his office that his daughter decided to use to do a few of the exercises with her daddy. What a great example of how we are role models for our kids.

Ironically, my 6 yo daughter came in and out the entire time I was doing this and so it made it all very real. These work outs are short enough and safe enough to do with children underfoot. A good thing.

So I got my strength workout in. But I didn’t get to the cardio workout. I meant to do it later in the day, but it didn’t happen. I did get some short walking done just out shopping and running errands, but not anything focused.

And I did watch the nutrition tip video and listen to the motivational audio for the day.

So, Day 2 of the Fat Loss Quickie program down, 28 more to go. Thanks for holding me accountable!

…Shannon

P.S. Scott shared this video in Day 2 with a healthy recipe for Stuffed Peppers done in the crock pot. Enjoy!

Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Workout – Day 1

So, Today (Saturday) was my first day doing the Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Workout program, and I have to confess…I didn’t do it in my home office.  I did it upstairs in my bedroom, where my exercise ball is.  And actually my 12 yo daughter and my 6 yo daughter did the first part of it with me too. Interesting.

Because we have a computer upstairs for Netflix and DVD watching, it worked out for me to just pull up the Day 1 page on the Fat Loss Quickie site, right there in the bedroom. I’ll probably continue that, as I often do my morning reflection and evening planning upstairs. But we’ll see.

So that I can move around to other locations without my laptop (which has the emails from Scott), I copied the web page links into a private Google Document, so it didn’t matter which computer I am at or where I am at, as long as I have internet access I can find the right day’s materials and not have to remember the password to get my access.

So today, as the first day of the program there’s a 10 minute strength training video, a 10 minute cardio video, a 17 minute mind-set video from The Change Series, and a motivational mp3 file to listen to.

I was relieved that I was able to handle most of the 10 minute strength program. The core strength exercises were done in a position that I use often on the exercise ball and so that worked out well.

I did have to do two modifications though. I can’t do a plank on the ball yet, so I did a regular plank instead. (note to self. Don’t wear socks while doing a plank…too slippery!). And there’s a 30 second interval that does pushups, which I can’t do yet. so I did modified push-ups instead, and then later did standing pushups against a wall.

Because I’m really focused on getting out of my funk of the last couple weeks, and moving on with my goals for 2010, I decided to watch The Change Series video right afterwards, and I did so while sitting and bouncing on the exercise ball and then doing some stretches for the end of that. I had the time right then, and I was curious. So, I got some more strength and stretching in just by using the exercise ball while I was watching the video. Very cool.

The cardio session is separate so that you can either do it right away if you have a big chunk of time (which I don’t usually) or later in the day. In my case I decided to do it later in the day, and ended up not doing it at all.

Instead, late this afternoon, I went for a 15 minute walk with my 6 yo and the dog, and then late this evening went for an hour walk around the mall with my 12 year old daughter.

I have to say that spreading the exercise out like this really helped my spirits today. I felt good most of the day. But that last walk with my daughter tonight had us both wanting to rest our legs, and I’m just a tad bit stiff from that.

But overall I’m feeling good about the day. I didn’t get to the motivational audio file either, but I’ve downloaded it to put on my iPod for a later time, when I need it.

So Day 1 down and 29 days to go.

Hope you had a great day!
