Checking in & Sharing an Aromatherapy Tip for Stress Eating (video)

It’s been a few weeks since you’ve heard from me because I’ve been really sick. But Spring has come and I’m feeling better, so I thought I’d say hi in person and share a quick tip from the garden on how aromatherapy helps me combat stress – without any calories :)

And I’m curious…what are your favorite scents? Mine are vanilla, chocolate mint, and lavendar (can you tell?)

WhooHoo! A Milestone Hit!

I’m still running behind, and owe you a bunch of updates…but I just have to share with you …

I hit a milestone!

I can fit into my “next size down” jeans!!!

Not only that, I can sit in them comfortably.  Not just get them on and zip them up, but actually functionally wear them!

I’m so excited…can you see my happy dance?

Seriously, I have no clue what the scale says (we’ll see on Tuesday), but I know I’m shrinking now :)

I wouldn’t have even tried the jeans on if I had been paying attention to that silly scale, but when I was doing my Fat Loss Quickie workout on Friday, I kept tripping over my pants, which were hanging down too long. So I decided to try the jeans out on Satuday… And they fit…

It feels good! Especially after the frustration of the last couple weeks.

We can do this!!

…Shannon

P.S. My husband asked me if I thought it was because of the exercise (the Fat Loss Quickie workouts) or the new meal plan we started (also part of the Fat Loss Quickie program) earlier this week. Personally I think it’s a combination of both.  The workouts are definitely making me stronger, I feel better physically. But also, even after just 5 days on the new meal plan, I can really feel the difference (and can see it in my husband’s demeanor). So… you know… exercise and nutrition… that’s my theory.

A Weekend Update – Nov 22

Well, it’s been a couple days since I posted an update. I do need to do this more often, it seems to make a difference. And THANK YOU for helping me stay accountable. I so appreciate your support!

  So, here was the weekend:

 Exercise wise:

Friday I got in a walk and my stretching

Saturday, did my stretching and did extra bodyweight core exercises (plank, bird dogs) and spent most of a movie sitting on my exercise ball instead of my recliner. :)

Today (Sunday) I did a bunch of walking, felt good. Didn’t time anything though.  I did do some more bodyweight core exercises this morning too after my stretches – bird dog and plank. Though I found it’s a little hard to do the plank while my daughter’s puppy is licking my fingers! :)

 Food wise:

Friday was good, but by the time I got dinner ready I was starving. Need to work on having more easy to grab, healthy snacks around. Can’t afford nuts right now, so maybe some cut up veggies would help.

Friday night is (homemade) pizza night, and I LOVE my pizza – it’s a high fiber, whole wheat crust, with piles of veggies on it – a whole carrot, a 1/2 cup of broccoli florets, an entire zucchini (if I have it on hand), and 2-3 hand fulls of baby spinach. I love this pizza. Tons of veggies. I just need to keep watch on how much cheese I put on top

Saturday, I did good. Breakfast was 2 slices of leftover veggie pizza. Ate lunch out with my hubby – a spinach and mushroom enchiliada. (I only ate one and some spanish rice, left the rest on my plate).

In the evening, I spent 2 1/2 hours visiting a friend in the hospital and was so COLD afterwards (she had the air in her room about 50 degrees!), I came home, grabbed a cup of homemade chicken broth and heated it up with a pinch of dried onion flakes. Oh that was a good warm up – and much healthier than a cup of hot cocoa or the Mocha I was tempted to get.

And I also made a tray of oven-baked sweet potato fries. Oh yummy.

Today (Sunday), wasn’t nearly as good. My hubby made pancakes this morning so they were white (versus the whole wheat ones my daughter and I make). But they were breakfast and I need to eat in the mornings.

Lunch wasn’t so good – macaroni and cheese with black pepper on it.

And Dinner definitely wasn’t good – McDonald’s chicken selects, french fries, and a fruit n’ yogurt parfait. And a diet coke. (I’ve beaten regular soda, but not diet yet….still working on that.)

Oh wait…I forgot. Each day I did binge on ice cream fudge bars – one each day. Two yesterday (Saturday). Damn, guess I didn’t do as well as I thought.

Looking forward:

So, I’m doing okay and then plummet. Gotta figure that one out still. Any suggestions?

When hubby and I were out on Saturday, we started talking about my goal to lose 100 pounds by Dec 2010. In reality, that’s pretty aggressive. I have to stay focused, and do better at the junk food/fast food opportunities and exercise.

Okay. I can do this. One step at a time. Keep moving forward. (gotta keep the self-talk up…)

So here’s to a new week… Got any goals for your week, esp. considering it’s Thanksgiving on Thursday?

A Random Update – Nov 18th

Well, I think I need to post updates more often. I’m just not doing well with staying on track from week to week.  So, I’ll start with today.

As usual, I made better choices this morning. Got up feeling stiff again – the weather change and the fact I didn’t stretch before bed last night had me creaking a bit. Decided to go ahead and move instead of giving in.

Stretched with my exercise ball

Then that wasn’t quite enough, so I decided to do just the warm-up portion of the Get up and Get Started walk on my Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds dvd.  That helped.

Food wise, it’s going okay. But right now I am craving one of those fudge bars that my hubby has in the freezer. Ugh.

My 10 yo son made me one of his yummy smoothies today – with added yogurt, oatmeal, flax seed, and, a new one – granola. For fruit, it had blueberries and orange juice. A different combination than normal, but it was good – and gave me a boost for the morning.

Lunch was a turkey burger on an Orowheat Wheat bun (I love those things – high fiber and yummy!)

Snack was a few of the kids’ roasted potatoes and a full tray of roasted sweet potatoes fries.  But for some reason I’m still hungry.

My 5 yo has book club tonight – we’re reading Pinkilicious, about a girl who craves too many pink cupcakes and turns pink. The only way to turn back is to eat dark green veggies. I’m relating really well to that right about now. Craving sweets but needing veggies. Go figure.

Well, here’s to better choices.
